The Thorn Of A Rose Poem by Mario, Lucien, Rene Odekerken

The Thorn Of A Rose

The thorn of a Rose,
hidden beneath the silken petals,
sharp, quiet, waiting,
a reminder of beauty's edge.

Fingers reach for softness,
only to find pain,
a sting that lingers,
drawing the smallest truth in red.

Its purpose is not cruelty,
but defense,
a lesson in touch,
a boundary set against the careless.

The Rose does not apologize,
for it is whole-
The bloom, the thorn,
the allure, the warning.
