The Verdict Is In Poem by Lauren Coles

The Verdict Is In

You think being on the witness stand for a crime is intimidating think of it was your writing,
Sweat dripping down it's spine,
You don't know how your readers will react to the story or poem,
Sometimes when you first start to write something you need to get a fresh perspective,
Your greatest critics will tell like it is,
You might have toss the whole project in the trash or polish it off a little,
You might have to send it out to many different places,
Published authors don't get published the first time around,
You might want to cry when the manuscript comes back tattooed in red ink,
You think it's over and you might die,
But making mistakes is a learning experience,
Try it again,
Hard work pays off in the end.
