The Vision. Poem by Charles M Moore

The Vision.

I had a vision
a thought in my mind
that all men and women
were equal in kind
we would lay down our arms
and surrender the fight
to be brothers and sisters
on seeing the light,

My vision had movement
I thought I could touch
as the smoke cleared away
I was covered in doves
and I appeared younger
with no battle scars
the earth smelled much sweeter
in the vision I had,

People were smiling
the children did sing
they annointed my body
and gifts they did bring
my torso was covered
in fine linnen cloth
and presented me down
at the feet of my lord.
