The Way, It Is Poem by Smoky Hoss

The Way, It Is

Rating: 5.0

The distance from
There to here
may be far,
may be near, but,
everything that comes
will turn and go,
long before the ducks
are lined in a row -
Love
covers the distance best,
north to south,
east to west.
We try and cry
as far away we fly,
taking and giving
along the journey of living -
Pausing as we pass, to ponder Eternity;
is it really out there so very far,
or just one step
from anywhere we are?
Don't even try
to do everything perfectly right,
just dance all about the place,
sowing, here and there, your own little light -
Love takes up
the slack,
filling empty holes
where we have such lack;
so don't worry, those we love...
they'll join us all in time,
for the Way to heaven
forms an endless line -

'forms an endless line -' I think I'LL be in 'another line', elsewhere, thinking 'I smell burning popcorn', cursing the day I was born. : (

Excellent work. My favorite line: Love covers the distance best.
