The Way To End Hostility [from 'proverbs 400' In Tamil] Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

The Way To End Hostility [from 'proverbs 400' In Tamil]

301. The demons once engulfed Lord Thirumal
with a force of swords-men.The Lord shone with sheen.
The foes gave up their plan. One's charming figure
is the way of consuming wealth.

302. O, chief of the sylvan hills where the tuskers
fight with the tigers. Some go dumb on facing
the stronger but rise up on seeing the weaker.
It is like adding might where there is no might.

303. When the enemies begin to fight with you
don't be over-confident to beat the foes.
The foes may be weak but their numbers give hope.
The brave too needs the support of some friends.

304. When a dog follows, the goat doesn't go ahead
e'en when pulled by a rope tied around its head.
When the foe advances to assault you
make his friend behind him, your friend.

305. Don't boast before someone who supports your foe
that you and your brother together could beat
the foe. It is like throwing a piece of bone
before the shepherd's dog, guarding his sheep.

306. Provoke someone to oppose your real foe.
Then be angry for a right cause and assail
your foe with ease. It likens a big monkey
stirring the gruel with th' hand of a small monkey.

307. All of us have difference of opinions.
Keep your foe at bay by seeking the help
of his foes. One who has guts to do it,
will slay several foes.

308. Better to get help of the foes to your foe.
The taste of the toddy drunk late excels that
taken early. Help of the foe's foes likens
to pick up th'thorn in foot with another thorn.

309. O, wench! The bees mistake your eyes for flowers!
With failure of assaults, if you fear the foe
and get into his care, it is to run with
your back towards the foe to escape th' arrow.

310. Be frank and speak nice to the foe. Give him
precious gifts. Befriend th' supporters of your foe
by deceit. Be just to th' vile to beat your foe.
Without these four ways, you can't punish your foe.
