The Winning Lottery Ticket Poem by Paula Glynn

The Winning Lottery Ticket

That lucky, lucky day,
When those six numbers are chosen,
A life where Jennifer Lopez,
Can be a friend alongside the ordinary,
Services and luxury,
No problem when it comes to paying,

For that lucky person,
Has the universe,
Looking out for them,
Those aggressors left behind,
The winning lottery ticket,
Paying to put them,
In the dark world of prison,

Jealousy abound,
Hatred to be found,
But love will be there,
Those real friends,
To not stab in the back,
Knowing success,
Is anybody's right,

Yet the millionaires jet,
Flies all over the globe,
Even on trips into the earth's orbit,
And using super computers,
Technology money to buy,
Inventions making life easier,
Fashions to enjoy and try,

For that millionaire,
The winning lottery ticket,
Paying for those fashions,
And improving one's smile,
Wearing those shoes,
That used to walk miles,
Just to catch the bus,

Now the trip means a fast car,
Or a ride in a helicopter,
And always on airplanes,
And own quarters on trains,
The winning lottery ticket holder,
Living in a world bolder,
And people no colder.

That day those numbers chosen,
As if by a psychic,
Perhaps some unseen force,
Knowing luck is karma,
The now millionaire,
Living in a happy world,
For having suffered some,
But now hope is here,
And there is much less fear,

Although money,
Does not buy happiness,
It helps make life easier,
And takes the burden,
Off other people,
Everyone to benefit,
Although the winner of the lottery,
Knowing to be sensible,
For anything can happen to anybody,

But the lottery ticket is theirs,
And what they do with it,
Only they can decide.
