The Word The Light The Sun Poem by Ben Gieske

The Word The Light The Sun

Rating: 4.0

lightning in the night
an owl’s flashing eyes
a blinded mouse in sight
twice struck it dies.

lightning in the night
thunder rushes out
a jolt in earth’s life
when the stars go out.

What is really sought
somewhere on this earth?
Something of great worth?
Would it be the birth

of words uttered in the dark?
But such words just blow away
never even ever heard
like a worthless castaway.

Sparks from the sun
reached the dark earth
bringing forth a new birth:
the Word, the Light, the Son.
