The World I'D Love To Live In Poem by Francis Duggan

The World I'D Love To Live In

The World I'd love to live in and of which I visualize
I feel in my lifetime anyhow will not materialize
For despite the giant steps in progress us human kind have made
We have not learned from the past and other Lands we still invade.

The World I'd love to live in and of which I dream
May never come into existence or so to me 'twould seem
For we still only hear of war and terrorism that create refugees
The people who flee from war ravaged Lands in leaky boats across the treacherous seas.

In a World where far too many die of hunger there is want and poverty
And the World I'd love to live in is only a dream to me
A World where all are equal and for all equality
And though I hope for such a thing it well may never be.

The World I'd love to live in would be free of mistrust
Where those who hold the reins of power would only be the just
And where people they would not be judged by their colour, creed or race
The World I'd love to live in would be by far a better place.

The World I'd love to live in of pollution would be free
And people of different Nationalities would live in harmony
And everyone be seen as equal and none too big or small
But I can only dream of a fair go for one and all.
