The Year Of The Thin-Skinned Woman Poem by Raj Dronamraju

The Year Of The Thin-Skinned Woman

I took you to the movies, you bled on the popcorn
Turned off the spigot on pleasant chit chat with a stranger
Termite queen conducts telephone interviews with wood chewing fanciers
Bites the heads off those who jump a place in line

You won't let last Saturday night go, you demand justice
But I won't confuse the bravery of self-respect with hysterical anger condescended to
Although the ladies and I had our differences, I will still claim not all of one thing but only a part that makes us both happy

When her group gives them the collective title of Laughing Larry
The better for them to identify who's at fault
Wraiths of insufferable associations show up for every curtain call
Dance tabletop sympathies and you are not allowed to say anything nor bring this up later

The man who murdered the future is still trying to get in your pants
She hit him while he was sleeping and jumped through the modern looking glass
Where there are clean and robust living patterns
Even though she immediately deviated from clean and robust living patterns
