The Young Man Of The Sixties Poem by Francis Duggan

The Young Man Of The Sixties

Rating: 4.0

The young man of the sixties is now looking gray
And clearly he has known a far better day
The legs that moved fast some thirty years ago
Are easy to tire now and their fastest is slow
At the local pub with his mates he recall
Of when he was young when he played football
With the local club the club's fairest and best
He was never found to be wanting when put to the test
Now a great grandfather his better days long gone
On the young man of the sixties time is ticking on
Now single and carefree since divorced by his wife
And she is remarried to the love of her life
And the young man of the sixties recalls his young years
As he sits in the bar room enjoying his beers.
