Therapist (Inspired By Richard Wlodarski's Poetry Lives In Freedom) Poem by M.J. Lemon

Therapist (Inspired By Richard Wlodarski's Poetry Lives In Freedom)

Rating: 5.0

The therapist I saw today
reminded me of days gone

long gone
those days when ugly things
happened
when the worst that could
did happen

And those are now remembered as
the good old days.

And while I can call them the good
old days
I can tell myself I am
grown up now
and evolved enough
not to want
to want to relive those
long gone days
not today

My therapist does not
exonerate or decriminalize

the toxins

carried along from those long gone days
may still stir the brain
they pop like the vessel
spilling a bouquet over
the white canvass of the eye

And my therapist
the canvass of my rhyme
prepares to deal with another day
a day long gone
What comes just may

prod the spirit to play
happiness
at least for this day
likely will not fray
