There Is No Prison In Loving One Another Poem by Mark Heathcote

There Is No Prison In Loving One Another

No prison can suppress my love or desire.
Lust is a keyhole that must be unlocked.
I am a locksmith for jailers.
Come to free you and assist you on your journey.
You're unfrequented dreams and your needs.
The more wanton your desires
The more forgiving, no doubt, I'll be.
Come rest beside me and free your tiresome mind.
There is no prison in loving one another.
There are no bars, but the walls we've built ourselves.
Does the shadow not perpetually follow and worship?
Doesn't all life matter? Doesn't the moon not idly follow?
Submissively, the sun in lesser parts,
Love holds no one prisoner; it is only a song.
A song waiting to be sung, and I am the hymn sheet.
For all of that, if you want to sing or hum along,
Love me now and in some distant future.
Love me like the morning birdsong.
