There's Only One Poem by Gary James Smith

There's Only One

There's Only One

There's only One who can uphold the broken
When a heart is in despair
To the deepest hurt of death itself
His grace is ever sufficient there
His love breaks the corridors
That come from grievous pain
And fills the barrenness of our hearts
To help us to live again

There are scars of wounded flesh
As reminders of past things
How accidents can easily happen
And bring a change to things
Constant to us as they're revealed
O yes...I remember back when
And we rehearse that memory
As when it happened then

But there are some hidden scars
That only God can tell
How they've left an indelible mark
And that God knows right well
But the great Physician can heal those wounds
That other eyes can't see
And bottles up our tears as well
Who knows them as well as He

I love that I can face each day
And face each circumstance
With the God of Heaven as my Friend
Satan doesn't have a chance
My eternity is settled
It was taken care of at the Cross
When I felt the removal of the pain of sin
My Saviour paid its cost

He still bears those scars for me
My entitlement praise the Lord
That same body that they pierced
Is nowmy Risen...Living Lord
There's a stack of Hallelujah's
In my new collection of songs
Please forgive me for another interruption
Another Hallelujah just came along

How is your life today my friend
What are the scars you're carrying
I know the hidden one's of your heart
The Lord Jesus would love to be burying
He can take past pain away
And bid all darkness flee
Make an appointment today with the great Physician
His office is open continually!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
