These Days Are Those Days Poem by Sonny Rainshine

These Days Are Those Days

Rating: 5.0

Every generation thinks it’s the best
and thinks it’s the worst;
we think in superlatives and comparatives
and who will be first.

Some say society is in decline;
others insist it’s sublime.
Optimists say it can only get better;
pessimists say we’re out of time.

Positive thinkers are bullish on good cheer;
Naysayers say Nay!
Stoics and nihilists say drink some beer,
while believers proceed to pray.

This is our age, our stage;
do with it what you will.
Like the wind on a March day
it is never still.

It’s a mélange of good and bad,
pretty and sad, up and down.
Let’s take it for what it is
and order another round.
