They Fly South Poem by Ima Ryma

They Fly South

Across the tundra vast and cold
There's warming, degree by degree.
And more and more of them unfold -
Mosquitoes in the Arctic be
Seeking the food source to survive.
Warm blooded mammals far and few
Finding havens to stay alive.
What will wiser mosquitoes do?
And so each warmer season all
These bugs that live to bug much more
Do heed the winds of nature's call
Further and longer than before.

They are a coming south by storm -
The Arctic flying vampire swarm.
