They’ll Soon Forget Poem by Joe Moore

They’ll Soon Forget

I love my country, for it will greatness be;
Though my people, don’t much shed love for me.

See I am a soldier, a guard I am for thee;
My people see me, but not way I want to be.

I fight on foreign lands, I fight and die;
Whilst the people of my nation don’t know why.

Politicians and the famous, front page you will receive;
Whereas my greater sacrifice, is left under the sea.

My dearest friend, he did die today;
For my nation’s people and the American Way.

But forgotten he shall be, a mere name on a wall;
Whilst the politicians and famous get it all.
