I Will Earn Poem by Joe Moore

I Will Earn

He lies in the mud,
After standing his ground.
His body covered in blood,
To protect those behind him.

He gave his life,
With no need for fame.
Left his wife,
But no one’s to blame.

While a kid goes to sleep,
With no fear of pain.
A woman now weeps,
For safety requires pain.

Safety we all need,
Freedom we all yearn.
But he made a creed,
Safety and Freedom, I WILL EARN.
