This Means War Poem by Jade Leven

This Means War

Rating: 4.5

thunder and lightning
childhood fears
mixed with cold uncertainty
this could result in tears
beyond any tears I have cried before
I thought my heart and I agreed we wouldn't cry anymore
but I guess the peace treaty was broken and this means war
this means war

beyond my simple words in simple handwriting
there's a wounded heart, struggling and fighting
when he walked away, it was written in blood on the door:
if the love does not return, then this means war

nothing can convince me
that love is all smiles
but I think that just maybe
it'll be worthwhile
now that I know what it's like
I will never be the same
and I can still remember the first time he came
it feels so good to hear a lover say your name

beyond my simple words in simple handwriting
there's a wounded heart, struggling and fighting
when he walked away, it was written in blood on the door:
if the love does not return, then this means war

if I think too much then I'll cry again
even if you hurt me I always try again
the only thing I've learned: as time goes on,
whatever you have, you'll have to live without it when it's gone
when it's gone
