This One Is For Me Poem by ANJALI SINHA

This One Is For Me

Rating: 4.8

Last night, walked down the garden
Noticed myriad colors on the rosebushes,
Darling, said mom,
which is for you.

Smiled I, looked at all,
For each had a story, so different, so tall.

This, an amiable red, a different hue,
Rose so vauntingly crimson, bright with dew,
Said,
“pluck me fairest,
shall build thee castles aloft the mountains,
place thee on pedestal,
adore and worship thee, love thee
till death do us part”.

The second, jocund, pink, and fragrant fair,
heady scent adorned the air,
Said,
“Me a treasure trove of fragrances-
thou shall only wear me,
see me, inhale me, breathe me,
that’s because I love thee more than myself”.

The third a trendy, shaded crimson and pink,
with tantalizing hues in the afternoon sun.
Said,
“pluck me. I love thee true-
want to adorn thee,
queen of my heart,
but wait till I have petalled to the full”.

The fourth the shrewd,
took advantage, heard gossip
the others had to say.
Expeditiously said, -
“I am an esoteric mixture of the first and second,
I am he- to protect thee,
from the raging bees.
The bees in their cecity see me, thus leave thee safe”.

But one contumacious little bud came popping out the leaves,
Small lil reticent fellow, oh so sweet,
Said “hey buddy, love buddy, sweet buddy,
I am he- I love thee,
for what thou art,
In good times and in bad times,
shall always adorn thee,
shall always be thy juvenescent fragrant love
Shall cherish thee AS THOU ART.”

I told Mom-this one for me.
