This Snowy Day Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

This Snowy Day

The snow is springled
over grass and trees looking
like powered sugar.
A lovely sight to see, although melted
on the driveway and roads leading
to anywhere...
Winter, ah!
I had to go back in to add a sweater and
watch a little more tv, while the car warmed up.
Safe enough in this rural part of Virginia
where we are even isolated from the sun
some days.
Rural Virginia is nothing like the hectic pace
of Baltimore, my home town.

The peace and quiet soothes,
as I move now, down the highway to gather
books at the library for my little friends, yes,
the preschool children I have told you about.
This morning, I'll share, 'January Brings the Snow' by Sara Coleridege with Elizabeth Falconer's
Seasonal Hide-and Seek, 'White Snow - Bright Snow by Alvin Tresselt, Illustrated by Roger Duvoisin, 'Owl Moon by Jane Yolen, illustrated by John Schoenherr and my very favorite, 'A snowy Day' by Ezra Jack Keats...but first I'll sing a song I wrote for the children, the 'Hello Song'!

Not a poem but I just wanted to be in touch with you to tell you about the earlly part of my day.
