Deny me the perfume that you wear
The chestnut brown that stains your hair
Deny my ears your whispered songs
The sweet confessions, that hum along
Please keep that crooked, playful smile
The weathered games, so juvenile
And I'll give back your lullabies
But please don't take away those eyes
I've tripped and fell a hundred times
Down a rabbit hole of lies
And I don't' need to be wrapped again
In all the spider webs you spin
Please don't bring those soft lips near
Don't say the words I can't unhear
Just keep the reasons, your alibies
But please don't take away those eyes
Turn your cheek, don't look this way
I'm trying to live for another day
Where I'm not so easily taken in
To play a silly game of sin
Refuse my call, and spare the lines
Your whispered thoughts are not benign
Save your breath, the lustful sighs
But please don't take away those eyes
Just keep it real, man, keep it all
Don't ever let your engine stall
On the tracks that lead to me
There're too many places you'd rather be
Some call it crazy, call me blind
To leave so many things behind
Yet want to see and see again
The very thing that causes pain
But, painted in such brilliant hues
The deepest shades of ocean blue
And if I lived and lived a thousand lives
I'd still be searching for those eyes
