Thoughts Of Us At The Start Of The Day. Poem by Not Long Left

Thoughts Of Us At The Start Of The Day.

Fragments of soon to be forgotten dreams
Fade with the coming of the light.
Flowing into reppressed streams
That flow deep beyond our sight.

Windows will the heat of the sun,
Their work is never done.
Bringing in the outside,
Holding firm what is inside.

And so goes in the nightly tide
As the skies blue mouth opens wide.
Greeting icy streets
That fit perfectly upon the streets-

Melting moods and puddles of ice
In the unhurried break of day.
This all happening as I lay
Beside my still dreaming wife.

Night has not yet left her
Reality and dreams together,
Yet as she stirs,
It occurs that our lives will not last forever.
