Thriving To Survive Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Thriving To Survive

It should come to no one's surprise.
There are many living in denial.
And thriving to survive,
On everlasting told lies.

Many awakening upset to protest,
Are the very same ones...
Refusing to believe,
How affected their lives...
Had become while they chose,
Delusions to keep.
As they slept in deep sleep.
Rejecting,
Truth to seek.
Or at least examine,
Truth and the possibilities...
They could be deceived.

But no!
This road to take,
They were told to stay away.
Beware of the thought.
Even truth to think about,
May cause them heartbreak.
And an economy lost.

And today it is not the truth,
That has caused and delivered...
Unending sorrows to face.
No.
It is the lies they've been told.
Followed and to celebrate.

While a few they depended upon,
To keep them updated.
As to what is going on.
Confessed the truth to hear it,
Spoken.
Had been 'downplayed' to eliminate,
Fears and the shedding of tears.
Easier to erase.
If the truth is believed,
To be made up and faked.

"Whew!
That's a relief.
So we can live our lives,
With a 'normalcy'?
As we are entitled to receive? "

-Of course.
What or who on Earth,
Is stopping you from doing that?
Live, rejoice and die happy! -
