Through All That Long And Tender Night Poem by Valerie Dohren

Through All That Long And Tender Night

Rating: 5.0

Through all that long and tender night
When love was young and new
We held each other oh so tight
And swore that we'd be true
With arms entwined and racing hearts
We sealed our promised bond
And through that long and tender night
To each we did respond
The moon shone bright upon our love
And blessed us with its glow
Her gentle light around us fell -
But this was long ago

For through one long and tender night
The spark that burned so strong
Became a quiet fading flame
That faltered all night long
And through the years that followed on
The love we knew had died
So through each long and tender night
I cried and cried and cried
Yet love can change and lose its roar
Becoming sure and deep
A love that binds two souls as one -
So there's no need to weep

Yes, through that long and tender night
The flame when love was new
Was never meant to last at all
But still it flickers true
And time has brought a stronger bond
That keeps us side by side
So through this long and tender night
Our love has not yet died
It's thus a flame that's soft and warm
That flickers through the day
Now in this long and tender night
Together we shall stay -

Oh yes, together we shall stay
