Through The Graveyard Poem by Rachel Brewer

Through The Graveyard

I’m walking through the graveyard,
Remembering the day I was once here for you.
I remember the ceremony and the flowers we chose,
I remember the music and the people we invited.

I’m walking through the graveyard,
All alone I’m wandering.
Thinking about that day,
That day seems so long ago.

I’m walking through the graveyard,
Trying to heal my heart.
I went on in the world without you,
And for that I am here to apologise.

I’m kneeling at your grave,
Putting down the gift I have brought.
Pale blue flowers for my friend,
Because I know they’re your favourite.

I’m kneeling at your grave,
Thinking about the years without you.
Thinking about the place your in,
Buried under the ground.

I’m kneeling at your grave,
I feel it, I’m beginning to cry.
I know you told me not to,
But I have to.

I’m all alone in this place of death,
I’m all alone as I sit and cry.
I’m trying to forget about everything,
And remember that someday I’ll be with you.

So I walked through the graveyard today,
And wanted to die.
But I know I’ll see you soon,
When I walk through the light towards your face.
