Timeless Voices Poem by David Harris

Timeless Voices

The timeless voices of our ancestors
and the wise men they did follow
ring through the centuries
with a wisdom we’ve forgotten.
Maybe if we learn to listen
we can put our world right.
They tell us not to take
more than we really need
not to destroy things
because we do not understand them,
feed the earth with our sweat
and grow a new tomorrow.
These words of wisdom
are carried on the wind
and listening to these timeless voices
will make us better
giving us our self-respect again.
Therefore, in the quiet moments
open our mind to what is around
and let the timeless voices in.
