To A Little Girl Of Four Poem by maas weerabangsa

To A Little Girl Of Four

A word of advice to my four year old girl
Who happens to be our priceless pearl
Do not be quarrelsome and try not to cry
Your tears do please wipe them dry

Your pretty face, that I like so much to kiss
Bringing to my heart eternal bliss
How different it appears when you sulk and weep
It hurts me so much in my heart so deep

Wetted with tears if you do remain
My love you would not surely gain
All your efforts would be in wain
To see you sad hurts me once again

Even God loves girls who are happy and gay
Do not be naughty when you go out to play
With your friends and sister don't fight and cry
It is evil and wicked to let your anger fly

Never do things that are wrong
For such doings would not last long
All your wrongs ask God to forgive
You will then be happy as long as you live
