To Baraghi On Mule Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

To Baraghi On Mule

To Baraghi on mule

I listen to Leonard Cohen's song
"So Long, Marianne"
A little boy holds the rein
Of a mule!

What a coincidence!
He is as small as that boy
Holding the rein of a mule,
I was on.

With new false stories
And a Taliban passport
Another camouflage
To escape from Taliban.

While in Baghlan
I tried many ways
As cargo in a truck
On horse, mule or donkey to
Ashkamesh but all failed…

Failed thanks to situations
Engineer Latif had angered Taliban!

His shaky relations was thinnest
In the days of breakups and joins
Or the days of go and stay, reunion

And I was abnormal in what was normal!

Finally the risk of mountain
Riding mule and that boy…

And I got to Nahrain
Stories long to be told.

And they are sparked
Thanks to Cohen's song! ! !
