To Love Nature Poem by Francis Duggan

To Love Nature

Rating: 5.0

I grew to love Nature when I was a boy
And learning of her ways today I enjoy
And my wonder of her ways only does grow
Yet so little about her I can claim for to know

Some four decades beyond my physical prime
In the twilight of my existence and running out of time
My knowledge on Nature not good I realize
A lack in me I have no wish to disguise

I do realize water uphill cannot flow
And I do recognize a currawong from a crow
Such things everybody does or ought to know
But for my age in knowledge I have little to show

To so many people Nature joy does bring
And her praises they certainly does love to sing
And despite years of knowledge and research on their side
Even from her top students Nature her secrets does hide

Long before time it did become my foe
I grew to love Nature many decades ago
But the more I learn of her the more I realize
That of her I know little this not a surprise.
