To My Mother On Her Birthday [2] Poem by Gert Strydom

To My Mother On Her Birthday [2]

He had to comprehend every great and good thing
that to our lives mothers do bring
when God invented mothers
and even if my life is full of thorns and twisting

still with sincerity from my heart the song of my mother I will sing
as in this world with all its great thrills and things that are happening
there is nowhere someone as great, as full of love and as kind
as my mother who are always praying

for me and my brother
and for many others
and I do not have the words to express
the sheer beauty of this kind of loveliness

and mother where it's your birthday today
this is like no other day
as you are special
in the most beautiful kind of way

and throughout my life it has been like this
where you do aim to bring great happiness.
