To winter
- - - - - - - -
Fair winter! In thy bright, blue sky
Felt a subtle sweetness of the sun
Each succeeding day now growing shorter
The morning dew smelling true and purer
So pure is the air, and so crystalline clear
And so faint is the breeze
Stirring green heaven of trees here and there
And so warm is the sunshine that lies on us
Scarcely bring the feelings that winter is here
Though we may miss the rainbow
Yet, with winter an emblem of beauty may glow
May be cold and cruel is winter
With the withered leaves rustling along
It won't be long, carolers
Will be singing a Christmas song
May be robin's heart is grieved
And he is far away to southern land
And he could not greet flushed moment of morn
He will be back with a new melody soon
May be an icy hand is on the land
Yet I see an amazing beauty all around
Embrace every bit of purity and grace
That Mother Nature has preserved for us
In this beautiful earth of ours
What a warming up poem welcoming the teen aged winter beauty gradually proceeding to the climax of her charms.......10
A beautiful poem on winter! Yes, the winter chill is in the air and many birds are migrating to warmer climates! Morning dew on the blades of grass appear as melted drops of silver... the days have become shorter with the sun setting early! Soon Christmas and its accompanying festivity will begin..... thus the subdued atmosphere will once more be brought to great animation! A 10 for this lovely poem!
