Told To Sell; Bought To Buy Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Told To Sell; Bought To Buy

Living to experience,
Unexpected changes.
Erasing to replace,
One's comfort zone.
Done to rely upon faith alone.
With fears and obstacles,
Prayed to go away.
Becomes a difficult task,
To listen to others...
Giving opinions unsolicited.
About who and how,
Someone should live.
Not to know who that someone is.
Or...
To what extinct,
That person has traveled.
On a path to walk.
Neither planted with flowers.
Nor a hint of it attempted,
Being a path another discovered...
To pave it with cement.

And...
With kept faith to face,
On a daily basis.
Doing one's best,
To stop knees from shaking.
Expected that 'someone' is...
To accept advice,
Heard to give from others.
Unfamiliar to live knowing sacrifice.
Or what it takes,
To know the smell of B.S. to avoid it.
With a doing to get up to leave it quick.
Without a word said done.
As if to run through the nearest exit.

"That was rude to do."

-I agree with you.
And if it had been me,
I would have at least admitted...
I prefer the company,
Of bull sitters selling it.
Told to sell.
And bought to buy,
Barrels of it I neither want or need.-

"But...
I didn't smell a thing! "

-That's why I got up and left.
Hoping you would follow me.
Before that B.S. took your breath.
Leaving you addicted.
To a smell so overwhelming.
Until you became sold.
Believing to sell me,
What you've been told.-

"I wouldn't do that intentionally."

-Once addicted,
The buying of it to sell it sold...
Becomes as natural for many,
As air to breathe.
And I have been there.
Before I detoxed.
Now I know the difference,
Between a lieing bull.
And a sincere innocent ox.
But still I remain,
Suspicious of them both! -

"LOL...
You got jokes."

-And a nose I depend upon.-
