Tortuous Spelling

We write 'rhyme'
perhaps to honor the tortured.

When lack of care is high,
care perhaps being less politic,
we might change the 'hy' to 'i'.

We could care even less
by dropping the 'k' from 'knee'.
The 'h' from 'ghee'
is problematic;
though we could spell Georgie
Jorjee.

We could honor the tortured
more carefully,
by changing 'we' to 'whee'.
