Traffic Light, Traffic Light Poem by C Richard Miles

Traffic Light, Traffic Light

Rating: 5.0

Traffic light, Traffic light, red, at the top:
Tells cars and lorries that they have to stop.

Traffic light turning to amber below:
Now it is time to get ready to go.

Traffic light underneath, green as a toad:
Now they can zoom on the wide-open road.

Traffic light amber above says; “Slow down! ”
To drivers in cars speeding all through the town.

Traffic light up at the top, red once more
Stops all the noise; hush falls over the roar.

Traffic light amber beneath, once again:
Drivers are ready and counting to ten:

Traffic light, green, at the bottom, at last:
Now all the traffic can go by so fast.
