Tree Poem by soren Barrett

Tree

Rating: 5.0

If I were ever asked what a friend should be
I think that I would say a tree
Whether the weather is foul or fair
You know that a tree will always be there
It will shade you from the summer heat
When hungry, it will give you something to eat
It filters your water and gives you air to breathe
It seeds the clouds, carbon from the atmosphere it does retrieve
It gives you shelter and medicine
It never asks where you have been
It doesn't speak or argue
It will never be rude or hurt you
Winter, spring, summer or fall
In return for what it gives it asks nothing at all

An absolute gem of a poem and so true, we all want our friends to be like trees. It reminded me of my poem Mirror I wrote years ago. A good 5*
