Trees, World's Lungs Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Trees, World's Lungs

Rating: 5.0

What greater phenomenon, joy for eye and soul
Than trees with leaves swaying gently in the wind
World's lungs, creating oxygen, supporting life
Jungles, forests and woodlands, keeping us alive.
Mankind's Crown jewels, every tree precious
Safeguarding, protection against global warming.
Cutting down trees and burning making farmland
Forest dwelling animals and plants made extinct.
Money and greed before sustaining world's lungs
Trees felled with forests cleared with loss of oxygen.
How my heart rejoices seeing beauty of trees
Shafts of sunlight from foliage making pools of light
With heart uplifted I walk ancient woodlands
See nesting birds, squirrels, badgers, and elusive deer.
