On March 15,2026, you found out you have diabetes. The thought of pricking your fingers, monitoring your blood sugar, watching what you eat, and making those regular doctor visits every three months is anything but appealing.
Right now, you're feeling a mix of anger towards the world, a bit of self-pity, and questioning what you might have done to deserve this. Honestly, it's a pretty normal reaction for anyone facing a life altering illness. Thankfully, this mindset doesn't linger for too long.
Your supportive husband encourages you to keep up with your Salat (prayer) . As you sit in prayer, you begin to see that everything else in life is a blessing from Allah. You come to realize that this illness is a test from Allah, a way to see if your Iman your faith can remain strong despite your aversion to needles and blood.
Eventually, you take on the responsibility of caring for your health, your body, and your soul. You understand that this is a gift from Allah, not something to wallow in self-pity over. The Quran reminds us, "On no soul does Allah place a burden greater than it can bear" (2: 286) .
You feel almost honored that Allah believes you can handle this challenge together, and you reach out to others who are also unwell, hoping to lift their spirits. You express your gratitude to Allah for all the mercy He has shown you.
You come to realize that you haven't conquered diabetes, nor have you been defeated by it. Instead, you learn that your ability to live with this condition depends on your faith in Allah.
As you strive for better control, you keep in mind the Hadith: "The likeness of the one who remembers his Lord and the one who does not remember Him is like that of a living person to a dead person" (Bukhari) . Ignoring your health can lead to physical decline; forgetting Allah is like spiritual death.
Allah has truly blessed you with support, mercy, and countless blessings. You know you must take care of yourself.
Embracing the gifts from Allah is essential; otherwise, you might find yourself struggling in the battle against this disease.
With love, your devoted husband, YIAA
