'Truth Unfollowed' Poem by Barry Spurlock

'Truth Unfollowed'

Truth unfollowed-
Gives you virtually nothing-
Following the hard rocky path-
You can't do without stumbling-
Can any one man-
Follow perfectly-
The best code of conduct-
Of what a man should be-
Not having honesty-
In your life-
Will lead you further-
With more storms and strife-
Anger slowly-
Burns away the soul-
So none of us-
Even the holy, can be whole-
Dreams are just things-
That we would all like to have-
Like becoming a king-
Or a queen of an ancient land-
Don't forget-
Being able to fly-
Just like life-
Watching all your clouds go by-
You only live once-
And only for so long-
So do what you can-
While you still have the time-
Because if you don't watch closely-
Your whole life will shade by.
