Tweel's Parting Song Poem by Daniel Brick

Tweel's Parting Song

A beautiful new world calls me forth.
I'm finished circling and stumbling
in my small cage of your care.
I'm ready to launch into the Great Sky
where eagles, crows and herons will greet me.
I'm their brother:
our wings link us together
into one long and graceful flight.
I'll drop a tiny yellow feather
from the Sky to the Earth
to show you
I LIVE I LIVE I LIVE I LIVE

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I am very grateful to the person or persons who came up the name COMPANION ANIMAL for that wonderful creature previously named PET. Companion Animal shows respect for this creature's species and identifies the role s/he plays in our lives. The word Pet, to me, seems to name a creature who entertains us, whose tricks amuse us, whereas the rapport between a human and an animal grows closer over the years because we are companions. This may not matter to some, and that's OK. I'm speaking from my experience with a tiny, yellow canary who taught me over the seven years of his life that he and I enjoyed the companionship that humans call friendship.

What a wondeful poem about your tiny, yellow canary. How tenderly you speak about this friend! you speak as if from her soul, by her vision. So touchy! St John of Kronstadt had a canary too!

...Beautiful sentiments expressed of a seven year old friendship between you and your canary bird... Finally it flew off to a higher state of bliss..... from the limited confines of a small cage! But this friendship mattered a lot to you.... Just as humans are our friends, animals too can be our beautiful companions over whose departure, we feel a sense of loss! A sweet poem! I invite you to read my poem..... A Tribute to my Dog!

this poem is really touchy cuz I am fond of pets and it is a great relief for me when I spend time with my dear ones.. animals are far better than humans cuz they never complain about any thing and will always remain as our dearest companions till the end of their lives... two years before my pet dog died and I couldn't even talk to any one for days.. it is was very hard and difficult for me to realise that I had lost my dear one.. very good poem sir
