Twilight Poem by Juan Olivarez

Twilight

Rating: 5.0

Many things are beautiful and awe inspiring
Not man made things but God's
Summer brings out the miracles of heaven.

Twilight with it's many shades and long shadows
The enchanting precurser to evening
The red and purple sunsets with multicolored clouds.

The gentle breeze softly stirring the leaves
The birds gathering on limbs and branches for the night
Bats flapping haphazardly after six legged critters.

And finally in the clearing the light show begins
Tiny little lanterns dipping and swerving.
All around bushes, near the ground, flying high.

Hundreds of fireflies performing a ritualistic dance
A beautiful illusion of city lights off in the distance
As if the stars themselves have descended on the clearing to carouse.

Blinking on and off, fading gently
From bright, to dim, to off, and on again
Miracles abound in the Twilight, if you take some time.

The subdued twilight of the late evening and the fireflies with 'automatic blinkers' suddenly appearing in hundreds creating an illusion of city lights.... are a pleasure to watch! Enjoyed this lovely write!
