If life has so many worlds
how many for death
one, three or ten?
I ask this question often
If life is glitter'd with hope
smash'd with despair
what it counts for death?
to know, i often aspire
If life is real
has a dream in a silver reel
what death feels when it sleeps?
i quip with bountiful glees
If life is for two souls
made for each other
what they are made of in a death's fugitive?
i am restless in my inquisitive
If life is smitten with a flower
while a star blinks in twinklish shower
what it does for a soul rests or plays in peace?
i often surmise
if life is God's bless
where we all pass through joy and sorrow
will death be God's curse?
i often muse
If life is a river
flows with restless water
will death be an ocean with no ebbs or tides?
a bee in my mind sweetly hymns

Hi Shamik - An interesting poem - so many quetions and no direct answers. V 1 This is a riddle but Solomon the Wise said - 'There is a ime to be born - and a time to die'. The answer would be for the equilibrium of the Universe to be maintained the parameters of LIFE and DEATH must be always in equilibrium. V 2 There is HOPE in life of FULFILMENT but again there is an equal hope in death of PRADISE. V 3 DEATH is as REEL as Life - it is when we are REELED in by the Creator to face JUDGMENT for our life. V 4 - You are correct God created us to be enjoined (two souls as one) for procreation and the survival of the Human Race. In daeth the two enjoined souls become ONE REDEEMED SOUL in paradise so tthere is no paradox between life and death. V 5 Life is as transient as a FLOWER (good analogy) - the answer to your surmisal is that Death is also transient - it is the state after death (eternity) that is permanent. It is a state of PLAYFUL REST and RESTFUL PLAY again in equilibrium. God is not vindictive The Good Book says One of God's greatest blessing is the 'Gift of PhysicalLife' to the TRUE BELIEVERS he also gives 'The Gift os Spiritual Life' Paradise beyond Death. If we believe in GOD his blessing is equally lavish in LIFE and IN Death, V 7 The Old River analogy! Life is a Rver - Death and what follows is can also be described in aquatic terms. Not so much an Ocean as a tranquil lake into which all the achievements of life flow. That is Paradise. Heaven is an eternal Lake - Hell is aso a lake - The lake of Fire - which no man can extinguish. eternal torment. I score it a MAX. Yours in poetry - JOHN
I request my honoured Readers to read its sequel ' two brothers and an answer' after this.. yes with a sound pause in between. Thanking you. Hope you enjoy these two poems. Let me know how you have felt. Kind regards, Shamik Bose
Death, that inevitable consequence of living. My mother used to say 'if you worry you die.....and if you don't worry...you die............so why worry? ' Yes I know, we still worry don't we, we can't help ourselves, it's human nature. Ruthie
These profound questions have made the ancient Egyptians to wonder! They were obsessed with the subject of death and after life! Making them to mummify their dead bodies keeping them in pyramids for a safe passage to the other world! The Greeks on the other hand concentrated on the art of living and the present life! Perhaps, as you say, - life and death are like two brothers! Like two sides of the same coin! Thanks for your thoughtful poem! -Raj
You have certainly many questions to ponder over and I admire your searching mind. You have some lovely images and the last stanza is beautiful. love Karin
