Un Ami A Un Grand Nombre. (Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

Un Ami A Un Grand Nombre. (Translation) .

(en memoire, Rupert Taylor)

La riviere coule a travers les jonquilles
Des fleurs sur tous les appuis des fenetres;

Nous te rejoindrons quand nous mourrons
Nous flanerons dans ces collines vertes;

Ami a de nombreux personnes, mon type, adieu.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Sam Hunt had many friends, just as the deceased man Rupert Taylor, did. He was a friend to many. One day they will meet him again when they too die. In the last line, Hunt addresses Rupert Taylor 'man', which is very common in spoken colloquial English, but there is no exact French equivalent.
