Un Inspecteur Rend Visite.(Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

Un Inspecteur Rend Visite.(Translation) .

Nous avons marche sur la pointe des pieds.
Le voisinage etait aussi silencieux qu
un souris.

*
Je me sentais tres nerveux. L'argent
etait dans le four, pas le refrigerateur.

*

J'ai jete un coup d'oeil a la note sur le piano,
Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh.

*

Il y a toujours un point ou une inquete de routine
devient quelque chose d'autre entierement.

J'ai du me frayer a coups d'epaule dedans.
Le bain etait plein du victime.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The poem has the same title as J.B' Priestley's superb play. The poem is spoken in a dramatic monologue by the inspector at a crime scene. They tiptoed inside, all was quiet. the money was in the fridge, and there was a note on the piano, which could have been a suicide note. In the bathroom, the bathtub 'was simply full of the victim'. A very dramatic last line.
