Uncle Suru Poem by Samuel Segun Toluwalase

Uncle Suru

Am tired of dreaming
Am tired of waiting
I hurt from this longing
Soon, my heart will seize beating

I want to be a star
I want to go wide and far
My dreams will take me there
All the troubles I'll bear

Uncle Suru
You will hear from me soon
Just pray for me
I know I will make it big

The city is as hard as you said
I find it difficult to sleep in bed
No job for small me
But my dreams will not deny me

I miss the village
I miss the trees and the growth of the foliage
I miss the village rhymes
And the thieving mice

Uncle Suru
