Under My Protective Watch Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Under My Protective Watch

Under my claimed,
And protective watch.
With a sworn obligation,
Made publicly to say...
I will stay that way.
Without doubt to betray.

Yet...
Refuse to excuse and deny I do.
What has happened to destroy,
Done around the clock.
Has nothing to do,
With my sworn obligation made.
That should have anyone to believe,
I am the one to blame and fault.
Since I was not there,
When a destruction began.
Even though it was said I was present.
And witnessed to participate in it.

And...
Misunderstood when overheard to say,
I am the one,
To fix and mend...
All that has been done to do.
Yet...
Accused I am to blame,
Under my protective watch.
That's all I did.
Just watched!
But no one expresses credit to give,
Me doing that at the best of my ability!

The only thing I will admit to doing,
Is pouring gasoline on a fire.
Hoping my doing it would put it out!
