Under The Willow Poem by Tsani Jones

Under The Willow

Float to where it's safe
Under the willow,
Long arms drape over
You to rest your soul...

All is still-
Like the pools of glistening perfection
That light your face,
A syzygy of you, me, everything.

It's quiet- like a graveyard
Of the world's best hopes and intentions.
But my heart is still warm and alive,
Waiting, an open book for you to write your fears in.

Everything's not a hard heat, dear...
You just couldn't see your reflection
In the dull shroud that was around you
All is ripped and torn away from your eyes,

Behold your own light for the first time.

You can bring your spirit to me.
I will cradle you and
Watch you slumber, a beautiful
Maiden in my ghostly arms to set my soul alight.

Don't fall down, girl,
The path to me
Is smooth as new skin-
Just kick off your shoes and walk.

Stroll by the stream
Listen to the little fish flip-flop
And lead you to that
Safe place underneath the canopy.

They can't get to us here-
So let the worn tracks
On your sweet face fade
With the facade of all that was pain and broken.

She speaks to us softly,
Like lovers in gentle embrace
Whispering all that is right, pure, and true,
So listen, and believe in that.

When you were born, your spirit was free,
Dancing unfettered in a soft white gown
With the music of night's children
In the distance.

I will wait for you here
With open arms
Under her shelter
Lit by your glow.
