Understanding Puns Poem by D.N. Rebb

Understanding Puns

What's black and white and read all over?
As a kid, I never understood puns
The play on words between red and read
Was that to have been funny?

A sick joke,
There was a woman with no arms nor legs
But she wanted to have someone make love to her
So, he picked her up and threw her into a lake
(I think I'm missing some of the joke)
And he said,
Now you're f***ed
I didn't get that one either
I guess it's more sarcasm than pun

Now that I'm older
Puns morphed into dad jokes
Or even grandpa jokes
I'm afraid of speedbumps
(Some cultures call them sleeping cops)
But I'm slowly getting over it
Bada-boom! !

By the way,
It's a newspaper
(In case you've been living under a rock and have never heard that first joke before)
