Unexpected Surprise! Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Unexpected Surprise!

Rating: 5.0

It was a surprise to discover…
You took a breath to recover.
Yes, we were expecting an addition.
There seemed to be some opposition.

This is something we can’t afford.
This is a big burden, not a reward.
It will be difficult with smaller portions.
I am asking, will you consider abortion?

As a loving mother, this could not be my choice.
For this life within me, I gave a strong voice.
We will manage somehow. I know it in my heart.
This child is a part of me; it shall not depart.

The child was born; she was a beautiful baby girl.
She makes me proud; she has the luster of a pearl.
Her dad bestows recognition… when he’s around.
He gave her away the day she wore a wedding gown.
