Unicorn Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Unicorn

Unicorn stallion
White as snow, flowing mane
Horn glittering like gold
On forehead above eyes
Standing silent in forest glade.

Young boy, troubled and fearful
Hungry and desperate
Lost his way with faith gone
Enters the glade
Beholds majestic Unicorn.

Doubting truth of vision
Falls upon his knees
Thinking this is end of life
Never seeing home again
Safe within a family's love.

Unicorn comes to boy
Who touches glittering horn
Faith and resolve restored
Sitting on Unicorn's back
Gallops away between towering trees.

At forest edge boy dismounts
Strokes Unicorn's mane
Whispers with tears his gratitude
In the distance voices call for him
Parents looking for him.

Unicorn gallops into the forest
Boy wondering for the rest of life
Why a Unicorn saved his faith
When found only in pastures of Paradise
Roaming free with Angels.
