Unused Spines Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Unused Spines

A decision to make procrastinated.
And left to marinate in hesitation.
Only produces a slowing decay,
Of a promising total devastation.
Coming with a force,
By those endorsing it to permit.
With a belief,
Joyfully fantasized.
As if indoctrinated to perceive,
Stampeding buffalo seen on TV.
Or movie screens...
Will bypass them,
To seek to roam on a range.
Where the deer and antelope play.
Done to overlook,
Those behind locked doors more time.
To locate and find,
Their unused spines.
Or backbones boasted to have had.
While being distracted from the seriousness,
Of what is taking place to erase...
Their quality of life.
That approaches much closer,
Than a remote to change what is seen on TV.
